Cell Phone Donation a Lions Club Project Notebook

This is a HOW TO guide in developing a simple Cell Phone Recycling service project for your club and community.  This is a very easy project.   This is a continuous project that can involve most of the members of your club and provide additional visibility within your community by your actions. 

Resources Needed:  Cell Phone Reusing vendor that puts your unused Cell Phones to good use.  One suggestion is the Donate A Phone program at www.donateaphone.com

Manpower Requirements:

• Chairman:  One or Two
• Workforce:  Any member that is willing to collect Cell Phones from friends and family

Time frame:  Year 'round

Getting Started:   Contact your vendor about getting a startup kit; and suggestions on how successful groups run this project.  

Promote the project among your members.  Take a few moments to report the number of Cell Phones that you collected at this and the previous meeting.  Keep in short; but keep showing that the project is growing.

Indicate this project in your club bulletin regularly.   Mention this on your club's website and brochure.

Do you have a computer store and/or stationary store or Cell Phone store that will participate?  

Other ideas:  Does your School Crossing guard or other person that monitors children have ready access to the Police or other Emergency aid?   Several Cell phone collected through your program may be able to help.
